Writing Times June Edition 2025
Hi everyone
Welcome back to Cape Cod… The trees are all leafed out now and everything is lush and green. One phenomena is the cicadas, Brood XIV Periodical Cicadas. Their loud humming or buzzing sound can be heard depending on where you live here on Cape. Jay caught one on camera last night out on the deck as it emerged from its cocoon. The buzzing is the male seeking a mate. This will last 4 to 6 weeks (we are told). Then we won’t see them again for another 17 years.
WEATHER
Yesterday the temp soared to 86 degrees.. I can hear my sister say, “So?” She lives in San Antonio so that reading for them is a cool break.
For us, well, not so cool. I melted. Today is better. Temps in the mid 70’s.
Summer usually arrives like that here. We rarely have a Spring…
TRAFFIC
Yup!
I am so grateful I live on the border of Hyannis where Phinney’s Lane crosses Rte. 132. Most of the stores for shopping are really close, a few miles away so I only see a small segment of traffic. I can, however, judge traffic by that junction.
There appears to be an increase in the number of cars at that traffic light. How do I know that? When queuing up in the left lane, the line of cars may take two or three lights to reach the intersection and gain the left. Off Season there is rarely a delay.
STUDIO
This is subject to tourism or families or holidays. Life happens and writing sometimes takes a back seat. We totally understand. There are a few writers who attend each studio because they do have something to offer, and they help the other writers with their insights and their wisdom. I thank them for that because we need that continuity. Especially the newer writers.
NEW WEBSITE
I decided to try a new website by BookBub. This is a prototype for Authors. It is the easiest website ever to create. They do it all for you. Even if you don’t have you book published yet, it is great for your blog and for your readers and fans to find you. And for you to tell them what you are writing and the progress you are making. The price is right, too. I have created websites on different sites over the years and find this to be inclusive, easy to use and fairly inexpensive as websites go.
This site is for my books only. I may allude to the writers studio, but for now it is only my books. I still have not loaded them all on to the site. I am including the link and ask you to give me some feedback. I forgot I had so many books.

NEW PODCAST
Yes, another “new” toy. I love podcasts and love doing them. I was coming up dry with my Cape Cod 1929 podcast. Trying to find information and write about the Roaring Twenties here on Cape Cod was becoming difficult. Instead, I switched the logo and the title to The Cape Cod Writers’ Studio and am focusing to start with my books answering why I wrote them (backstory) and who did I write them for. Surprise. Up until now, my focus has been on my writers and the studio, so perhaps my writers would like some of my background and who S. D. Anderson really is through her books. Yes, EGO!!!

I only have two episodes so far. I am working through my books chronologically and offer one on each podcast because each book I have written has a backstory. The next one just published is titled What Are You Thinking. This one rates a 8 from me as a well done book. I give myself ratings? What I like about this book is it has many tips and suggestions that I had forgotten… and these tips or “tools” are all FREE. The book is priced at $8.24 for the print version. I did not do the e-book version. It has just sat on Amazon… unnoticed. My fault.
